Each weekday, from early morning to late afternoon, nearly 150 individuals are actively engaged in learning new skills and developing new friendships at TAIG’s adult day facility at 4700 Wissahickon Avenue in East Falls. They are greeted by friendly, well-trained staff eager to begin recreational, leisure or educational activities. Specific activities and experiences are carefully planned to meet the unique needs of each participant.
Individuals can choose from an exciting variety of community-based activities such as:
- Participating in local neighborhood events
- Experiencing cultural events, museums and historical sites
- Enjoying bowling, movies, and theater
- Spending leisure time at parties, picnics, and parks
- Attending workshops and lectures
Individuals can also choose to participate in the many on-site options such as:
Physical Fitness: Maintain good physical health by exercising with state-of-the-art (and wheelchair accessible) treadmills, stationery bikes,
and weights. Join in yoga, dance, and martial arts classes.
Horticulture Center: Explore the fun of raising a wide variety of plants from seedlings and nurturing them to mature plants.
Culinary Center: Learn basic cooking skills in a large, fully-equipped kitchen. Advance to meal preparation, health food choices, meal planning, and budgeting.
Music Therapy: Discover the universal language and movement of music. Find self-expression through musical instruments such as the keyboards, drums, guitar, and bongos.
Technology and Education Center: Learn basic and enhanced computer skills training, job readiness training, literacy skills.
Recreational Center: Have fun with electronic video games, game tables, art and crafts programs, and daily living programs. Relax in the entertainment center featuring a 65-inch wide screen high definition television with surround sound system.
