Dear TAIG Family Member:

There was recently a public announcement regarding the merger of TAIG and NHS Human Services (NHS), one of Pennsylvania’s largest not-for-profit providers of human services. I would like to take this opportunity to explain what the merger means for all of TAIG’s family members.

I am certain what is most important to you is to know that your loved one’s care will be enhanced by this merger. The combined organization’s priority will be to deliver quality care to vulnerable individuals. After a seamless merger, NHS will provide management supports to TAIG. TAIG and its corporation will remain intact and will continue to operate as it has. This transition provides a tremendous opportunity for TAIG to broaden and strengthen its services and to enhance its economic viability.

The merger opens the door to an array of services that can benefit your family member. Caring for more than 50,000 individuals in five states, NHS provides services in the areas of behavioral health, intellectual / developmental disabilities, addictive diseases, autism, juvenile justice, elder care, and foster care. TAIG’s and NHS’ long histories of providing care to those in need complement one another extremely well.

In today’s health care market, it is critical for organizations to forge strategic partnerships in order to grow, become stronger, and improve their ability to operate efficiently. We believe this merger will help TAIG work toward securing better wages and benefits for its employees. This will, in turn, improve our ability to recruit and retain a qualified workforce and provide greater stability throughout our system.

The Boards of NHS and TAIG are pleased and proud of the agreement to merge the mission, governance, and operations of our entities. Our Board Chairperson Stephen Simpson says it well, “NHS offers the best of quality clinical ability combined with cutting edge technology and access to capital which will allow TAIG to secure our historic mission long into the future.”

The TAIG and NHS merger will broaden the services we offer, will strengthen our economic viability and will provide us with greater stability and security into the future. I welcome your questions and comments regarding this announcement. Thank you for entrusting your loved one’s care to TAIG.

Sincerely,

Joseph R. Bucci
President and Chief Executive Officer
